Day 1: Chiangmai Arrival (L)
Pick – up at Chiangmai airport & transfer to your hotel in Chiangmai. Overnight there.  

Day 2: Chiangmai (B, L)
Breakfast at your hotel. After breakfast, explore ancient and modern Chiang Mai including the city’s most important temples:  Wat Suan Dok, where the ashes of Chiang Mai’s royal family are interred, Wat Phra Singh, home to an old and sacred Buddha image, and Wat Chedi Luang, where the famous Emerald Buddha was once enshrined.  Drive around the old city walls and gates and see markets, residential areas, foreign Consulates, Government buildings and Tapae, Chiang Mai’s main street.   Stops are made at Chiang Mai University grounds, Monument of Three Kings (who established Chiang Mai as the Capital of Lanna Thai Kingdom), and Buak Haad Public Park. Continue to the temple of Wat Prathat Doi Suthep, the most famous landmark of Chiang Mai. Climb the Naga staircase to visit the exquisite golden pagoda with 6 kg of pure gold at its peak, the remainder of which is plated with gold shines high over the city. The sound of temple bells fills the air and the view overlooking the city makes an irresistible photo opportunity.   

Then continue to the handicraft workshop. Chiang Mai is famous for the quality and uniqueness of its local handicrafts.  Visit Sunkampaeng, with its Thai Silk and cotton looms; Bo Sarng, the paper and umbrella-making village; the Celadon kilns, with its exquisite traditional -fired stoneware; laquerware, teak-wood carving, jewelry, and silverware factories.  This half day tour shows you how Chiang Mai craftsmen produce their crafts by hand from the first stage to the finished product, and gives you an idea of what there is to buy and take home as souvenirs from Chiang Mai. Overnight in Chiangmai.

 

Day 3: Elephant riding in Chiangmai (B, L)
Depart your hotel and drive north-west of Chiang Mai through the picturesque Mae Sa valley to the Mae Sa Elephant Camp, set in a beautiful wooded area.  One of the highlights of your visit is to watch the elephants taking their morning bath in the running streams before starting their day’s training and work.  With their trainers, the elephants will demonstrate a number of skills for you, and you may feed them bananas or sugarcane … their favorite treats.   You will then have an opportunity for a 50 minute elephant ride into the surrounding woods, a real adventure and wonderful experience.   Continue your tour to the beautiful Orchid Nursery where more than 50 types of orchids bloom year-round.  You will also visit a Butterfly Farm where you will see numerous colorful and rare butterflies. Lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch and a short rest proceed for a visit to Mae Sa waterfall. (Please bring the swimming suits with you if you wanna enjoy the Mae Sa Waterfalls) Overnight in Chiangmai.

Day 4: Picnic day (B, L)
After breakfast  visit Doi Inthanon national park, located south of Chiang Mai, the Doi Intanon National Park is one of the most fertile natural treasures northern Thailand. The invigorating mountain air, and fresh cool climate, makes the park a rejuvenating break from the city. The park is home to Thailand’s highest peak - Doi Intanon, rising 8514 feet above sea level.  The park is extremely popular among bird watchers, with more than 383 species being reported. On this tour we visit the summit where we see the shrine of Chao Inthawitchayanon, the former prince of Chiang Mai, before stopping at Wat Phrathad Chom Thong with its holy relic and ancient treasures.  A stop is made at Wachiratharn Waterfall and the twin chedi, built by the Thai Airforce to honor King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit.  A short trek along Michael’s Trail offers a beautiful and unforgettable experience.  Lunch on this tour is served picnic style. Overnight in Chiangmai.
