7-Day Bhutan Itinerary
Follow the route from Paro to Thimphu, Punakha, Phobjikha Valley, Gangtey, and back to Paro for the iconic Tiger’s Nest hike.
Day 1: Arrival in Paro & Drive to Thimphu
Arrive at Paro International Airport after a scenic flight, meet your Bhutan representative, visit Tachogang Temple en route, then continue to Thimphu for Buddha Dordenma, Takin Sanctuary, Sangaygang viewpoint, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Thimphu – Dochula Pass – Punakha
Drive through pine and cedar forests to Dochula Pass, visit the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens, admire Himalayan views, then explore Punakha Dzong, hike to Khamsuum Yuelley Namgyal Chorten, and visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Nunnery.
Day 3: Sightseeing in Punakha
Discover Chorten Nebu, a lesser-known 18th-century treasure, visit its monastic school, explore Chimi Lakhang, and continue to Ritsa Village, known for its unique rice-growing technique and traditional monastery.
Day 4: Punakha – Phobjikha Valley & Gangtey Nature Trail
Drive to the quiet Phobjikha Valley, winter home of the black-necked crane. Visit Gangteng Monastery, then hike the Gangtey Nature Trail through flower meadows, forest, village landscapes, chortens and open valley views.
Day 5: Phobjikha – Paro via Dochula Pass
Drive back to Paro via Dochula Pass, stop for lunch and sightseeing, visit Tara Monastery in Gimina village, then enjoy a short Zuri hike with views over Paro Dzong and the river before returning to your hotel.
Day 6: Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike & Paro Exploration
Drive to Ramthangkha and hike to the iconic Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. Visit the temple, descend for lunch, then continue to Kichu Lakhang and enjoy an optional archery lesson before strolling through Paro town.
Day 7: Departure from Paro
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Paro International Airport according to your flight schedule for your onward journey.
